On a frosty December night, a few Omaha musicians gathered at The Benson Grind and shared some of their latest creations. I was one of those musicians. My set was a melencholy assortment of wintery anthems, including a couple new songs...
This song is about forgiveness, longing, and restoration. In short, it's about the human condition. All of us want things to be set right. All of us want to be totally accepted by those we love. But deep down we all know that earthly acceptance and love will somehow never truly be enough. This song is about that frustration...and that hope.
This song is a look back at where Megan and I were a year ago. It's about the struggles, temptations, and longings of engagement- particulary engagement amidst the cold of winter. The warmth and joy of this winter (our first winter as husband and wife) is somewhat deepened when we remember the trials of last winter. As somber as the song may be, the ending is an anthem of joy. "Last year I used to dream about it... now I still dream... but now my dreams come true."
