One evening, when we lived in Maryland,
dad took us boys to Marley Creek.
Abe was little and riding on dad's shoulders.
Jake had some new flip-flops.
Dad pointed out towards the forested Island
in the middle of the creek.
"Y'know," he said, "dinosaurs still live on that Island."
My wide eyes stared at the dark outlines of trees
pressed against the bright orange of a sunset sky.
I could actually see the dinosaurs.
I hope dad got a kick out of that.
I believed there were dinosaurs in Marley Creek for a long time.
